I found part two slightly less compelling than the first Mouse Tales, but I think it may have been more of an issue of timing rather than content. Reading the two books close together is overload.More Mouse Tales jumps ahead in time. While Mouse Tales focuses primarily on the early days of Disneyland, More Mouse Tales is a study in the contemporary workday experience at Disneyland. With more of a demand to make profit, cutbacks at every turn make the Happiest Place on Earth a little less happy.I will never understand why upper management insists on bringing in outside "efficiency experts" to tell them how to run their businesses. The consultants only cause problems by viewing the bottom line through their own tunnel vision, and the company suffers. Disneyland is no exception. Koenig goes at length into problems that arose from mismanagement around the maintenance staff when shifts were moved around in an effort to drive workers out on their own to avoid firing them. Doing work at night in certain areas led to failures and even accidents because the people who knew their jobs were told by outsiders to do them a different way.Koening also discusses Disneyland's own little extortion plot when they'd ask people caught shoplifting to hand over a fine to avoid arrest.One of the more interesting sections of the book mentions that there was a time when the shops in Disneyland held very unique items, but management decided since the big sellers were T-shirts and key chains, that they'd make the same items available in every store and get rid of the more original products. This is something that I've definitely noticed over the years. There was once a time when a visit to Disneyland would result in a very special souvenir to remember the visit. The stores in New Orleans were different than the stores in Frontier Land. Now everything is junk merchandise branded with the Disneyland name. Sadly, shopping at the park is not the draw that it once was.More Mouse Tales holds a copyright of 1999 and 2002. Koenig makes a few references to California Adventure and the initial lack of public interest in the park. I'd like to see an update or a third edition of Mouse Tales explaining how all of that was originally envisioned and then handled when attendance was so low.All in all, an interesting book, but not very surprising when you realize that beyond the facade that Disneyland is trying to create for visitors, it is at heart a business. That realization kind of takes the shine off of the brass.

I give these books (Mouse Tales and More Mouse Tales) as gifts to my fanatic Disney friends. The author has done his research! I should know since I was thrown from a ride at Disney and they did not pay a dime for my medical bills. I did the research and came up with the same info as the author. Also, fun and interesting info about the park, if you still go!

David Koenig's books on Disneyland are a delight for us Disneyland fans. "More Mouse Tales" gave me something I've been longing for--maps of the popular Disney rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, the Jungle Cruise, and the Indiana Jones Adventure. I used the maps once when someone dropped a purse in the Indiana Jones Adventure--I was able to tell a cast member that the lost purse was in the skull room on that ride. Otherwise, I would have had to shout a long-winded description--the ride is NOISY!Many people will like reading about Disneyland's goofs and glitches. For me, finding out about these problems made me appreciate how special that place is--that Disneyland manages to function at all is a miracle. Disneyland manages to operate more smoothly than other theme parks and amusement parks.Here is the human face of Disneyland. Disney magic is created by people: we humans have our vices. These people are quite capable of creating imperfect magic--that includes cast members, the crew behind the scenes, management, Disney executives, the Anaheim Police Department, other government officials, and don't forget over twelve million guests annually! It's a wonder that the place hasn't fallen off the end of the world! Like any place else, Disneyland has its share of problems. Personnel policies disliked at Disneyland are industry standard. Walt Disney didn't want to develop just another dirty amusement park or travelling carnival--and the key to avoiding the "carny" atmosphere was to hire quality people and treat them well. Treat your work force like trash and they'll act like trash. Word will get around and your company soon will have to hire trash because nobody else will work for you. Disneyland hasn't gotten that bad--not by a long shot--but this summer they're having problems in their food service department.These stories are referenced at the end of the book. Since much of Koenig's information is from the open press, it is easy to verify. I like having an index. I used the information in Koenig's books to maximize my fun at Disneyland. Knowing what to watch out for helps reduce the misery of long lines and other minor problems.So, when's David Koenig comming out with his fourth book?

It's not.While I was reading this book I felt like I had picked up the latest issue of a weekly tabloid that proudly read on the front cover "Ex-employee of Disney tells all!" But this story is truth, unlike the majority of the tabloids, I'm sure. If you wanted to know how Disneyland works, read this book. I was laughing and enjoying the reading from cover to cover. Being an ex-amusement park employee myself (Legoland, CA. for over a year) I could related to a lot of the stories that were told by Disneland employees (or I should say cast members). This book will give you a new perspective about the mouse and his land. I think it's a very good read!Make sure you read the first book "Mouse Tales: A Behind-the-Ears Look At Disneyland" in addition to this one.

I was hoping to gain some insights into more particular things that interviewers look for during interviews. I was hoping to find ideas for how to prepare for traditional interviews. This book is gonna make you paranoid, just read the chapter where it says that you gotta be nice to hotel receptionists cause they can be contacted by the medical school. I try to be nice to everyone around me, but this is some 1984 Big Brother stuff ( which says a lot given I've spent most of my life in Russia).Otherwise, not a bad book. Got some good tips out of it. And it is quite short. Will take you couple of hours to finish it.

I am a health communication professor and I work closely with the university's premed program. I sometimes do trainings prepping the students for their med school interviews and many of my students have been successfully admitted to med school. I have found this book, along with Multiple Mini Interview (MMI): Winning Strategies from Admissions Faculty to be the 2 essential books of prepping for med school. The best thing you can do for yourself is buying these 2 books, reading them thoroughly, and practicing more than once. Start with the general one, and spend some serious time on it. Don't skip the 'why do you want to be a doctor' and 'what is professionalism' sections, they are gold! Then if you are informed that you will have an MMI, go ahead and read the other one. If you won't have an MMI, I would still consider browsing through it because it gives you interesting ethical questions to think on, which should get your medical communication juices flowing and ready for an interview!As someone who helps train prospective med school students, I want to emphasize that whatever book you buy, you need to practice. Practice out loud and hopefully to another person who is listening to you and providing feedback.

I HIGHLY recommend this book for all medical school applicants. It is well researched and very comprehensive. I found it to be much more helpful than any of the other books or websites that I studied in preparation for my interviews. The authors obviously put a lot of work into the book-I was amazed at the depth and breadth of the author's research. The authors almost continuously cite medical school admissions committees as their source of information. The Medical School Interview covers everything you need to do after being invited to interview, from interview preparation to interview day and beyond. It includes common interview questions and also discusses the different types of interview formats. Most importantly, there is an emphasis on making your answers unique; there are a lot of highly qualified applicants out there, so making your answers distinct and memorable is critical.The book serves as a companion to several other medical school preparation services provided by the authors. This book and Dr. Desai gave me the confidence and clarity I needed going into my medical school interview. I had 2 MMI and one classical style interview. I can almost honestly say that I would not have gotten in without the advice. Plain and simple the guy knows what he is talking about from years of experience one being on an admissions committee, two speaking personally with other admissions committee members at numerous schools and getting the inside scoop on what they are looking for and what makes them tick, and third speaking and working with soo many other applicants just like you, polishing their interview styles and seeing what succeeds and what does not first hand. I thought this was an okay. It had a handful of decent tips, but a lot of the information there was obvious. For premeds prepping for interviews, the best thing I'd recommend is doing a mock-interview with someone from your school if you can and go through your answers and how you can improve them. Ayad Akhtar is an American-born, first generation Pakistani-American from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ayad Akhtar is an American of Pakistani descent who burst onto the scene in 2012 with "Disgraced" (2013 Pulitzer Prize in Drama), "The Invisible Hand" (2nd play), and "American Dervish" (his first novel). He was born in NYC and raised in Wisconsin. In an interview that appears at the end of this book, he credits a high school English teacher with changing his life by getting him to think about the deepest questions of life.In his work, he continually addresses what it is like to be a Muslim in America.In "The Who and the What," (his third play), the story involves four characters - Zarina (32 - F) and Mahwish (25 - F), their father Afzal (60 - M), and Eli (30 - M). Mr. Akhtar took the introductory concept from Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" and applied to a Muslim American family in Atlanta in the present day (2014). Mahwish wants to get married to her long time boyfriend but can't until Zarina gets married. Zarina was in love with a white Christian but cut it off when her father told her to. She is grieving the relationship by holing up in the family home and cooking, cleaning and writing a book that she doesn't discuss. Afzal finds Eli as a potential mate for his daughter. Afzal is quite the character - he is warm and funny but also deeply conservative and patriarchal. The issues of filial obligation, generational conflict, the old world vs. the new, religious devotion, and love all play out over 10 scenes. "Disgraced" is a tragedy. This play exists in a different genre.As in his other work, Mr. Akhtar does not have any pointless words or frivolous scenes - everything utterance has a purpose. I saw this performed at the Huntington Theater in Boston in April of 2017 and then read it a two weeks later. It is quite clear that Mr. Akhtar is already a master playwright, and that he will likely win several more awards over the next few decades.

With this play, "The Who And The What," Pulitzer Prize winning author, Ayad Akhtar, continues to dig deeply into his own heritage as a Pakistani-American born into a Muslim family. As he has done with his play "Disgraced," and his novel, "American Dervish," he has created characters who wrestle with issues of identity. This grappling mirrors the wrestling that Mr. Akhtar himself has engaged in regarding complex questions of how to maintain his embrace of his cultural heritage while questioning many of the theological and social tenets of his family's Muslim faith.In this play, Zarina is writing a novel which examines the Prophet Mohamed's marriages, and the origin of women wearing the hijab - the veil. Her traditional father and sister are shocked by her lack of devotion to the accepted hagiographic image of the Prophet. There is plenty of conflict to be fleshed out as Zarina's questioning voice places a strain on her devotion to her faith and to her family.

This is a play, a stage drama, by the author of "Disgraced" which won a Pulitzer a few years back. This is as good. I have seen both plays, in Boston, and was spellbound. These are real people, living lives we can sympathize/empathize with. It is emotionally honest. Akhbar has an exquisite ear for dialogue.

Absolutely love Ayad Akhtar. Went to see Disgraced at the Lyceem theatre in NYC. Love American Dervish so I bought this one. A lot of great themes on females in Islam. Good read.

Bought it for a class on Muslim Lit, loved it.

I just started with archery. This was a good book to show you what muscles are used and how to develope them for better control.Good basic book.

I think it delivers in its subject. Exercises are just perfect if you're just starting out, and you want to develop a stronger, accurate pull. Keep in mind that I'm not a highly experienced archer, just a fairly new bow hunter. I think the book delivers, but accept my opinion with a grain of salt

Not a bad book, but it basically is just a beginners guide to working out not really focused on archery.

It's a lot of exersises to do, but if you want to hunt, you have to do what you need too.

This book is intended to give an overview to those entering the field on how to fabricate nanostructures and their underlying chemistry. The main focus is on the fundamentals such as synthes and fabrication and covers as large range of toptics: nanoparticles, nanowires, nanorods, thin films, and carbon nanotubes as well as a diverse range of patterning techniques (AFM, self-assembly through conventional lithographic techniques). The last chapter of about 20 pages on applications is a bit short and only gives a general feel. The book should be suitable to both advanced undergrads or grad. students in chemistry, material science, physics, and EE. I myself found it quite accessible for self-study. I especially, liked the first ~50 pags explaining the fundamental such as surface chemistry and excellent explanation of surface tension.

Many books in this area are too concerned with the nano hype and less focused on the science behind it. Others present several chapters, each written by a specific set of authors, that are not necessarily correlated and seem more like a collection of review papers instead of a book. In this context, in my opinion, this book is one of the best books covering the subject (together with ozin's nano chemistry). It covers the real fundamentals and the science that drives the field together with current relevant advances and applications. The only negative aspect of the book is the illustrations, that could be colored and more eye-catching....I was hoping for that in this new edition...Even then, I will give it 5 stars...

There are so many typos in this book. It's clear the authors are not native English speakers and that the book never got edited by anyone (or if it did, they did a terrible job). However, it does provide a great overview of nanomaterials (like how they are synthesized and characterized) and is an easy read.
